Carmel Valley itself has three shopping centers. The largest is Del Mar Highlands Town Center, on El Camino Real, with banks, grocery stores, boutiques, services, salons, gift shops, eateries (cafes and takeout), craft supplies, book stores, a gym-over 70 businesses convenient to Carmel Valley Residents on the West End in an open air environment.
Piazza Carmel, centrally located in the heart of Carmel Valley, offers much the same kind of selection of shopping and services: major banks, ACE hardware store, Vons, jewelers, pet stores, boutiques, and most services the neighborhood would need.
The third shopping area within Carmel Valley is Carmel Country Plaza, with lots of services and great restaurants for the locals.
Just to the south of Carmel Valley is UTC (University Towne Center), boasting all the big department stores, plus restaurants and specialty stores.
